During VICTORIA’s long reign in the nineteenth century, everything in England seemed destined for success. The Victorian Era was remarkably creative in the arts and sciences. With a population of only fifty million, Great Britain “colonized” every part of the world, implementing for its own interest : industrial revolution, parliamentary democracy, global maritime trade, strong migration and intermixing of cultures. All this was undertaken within the “ Pax Britannica” developing modernization and dependency as well. Victoria was trained and advised by remarkable statesmen like Melbourne, Prince Albert, Disraeli and Gladstone, deeply convinced that British colonialism and empire were the best for a “Civilized World”.
