Angela Merkel is Germany’s first woman Chancellor at the head of a grand coalition. She manages the major economy and the most influential politics of European Union. She built her political career through crises and tragic changes. Born after Second World War, a Lutheran pastor’s daughter, raised under East Germany communist regime, with a doctorate as a physical chemist, she quickly upgraded from cabinet member of Chancellor Helmut Kohl to the chancellorship she maintained from 2005 until now.
